Simon & Schuster has reorganized its children’s publishing wing into three distinct units, each publishing in both hardcover and paperback. As PUBLISHERS WEEKLY breaks it down, the S&S children's division will now consist of:
1) The “trade group,” including the Simon & Schuster, Atheneum, and Margaret K. McElderry imprints. 2) The “media tie-in branch,” including Little Simon, Simon Spotlight, Little Simon Inspirations, and Simon Scribbles. 3) The “new Aladdin and Pulse division,” which will “focus on middle grade and teen titles.” There have been some personnel shifts announced alongside this reorganization. Three people have been promoted to the title of VP and Publisher of or within the groups: Bethany Buck will oversee the new combined Aladdin/Pulse unit. She had been VP and Associate Publisher of Simon Pulse only. Emma Dryden now has those titles for Atheneum and Margaret K. McElderry. Justin Chanda now has those titles for S&S Books for Young Readers. Both Dryden and Chanda continue to report to Ruben Pfeffer, Senior VP and Publisher of the children’s trade unit. Two editors have been laid off: Dee Ann Grand from Little Simon Inspirations, the religious imprint, and Susan Burke from Atheneum. |
